Newcastle Strings is a small, friendly orchestra based in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. It has been in existence since the 1930s, and plays a wide variety of music ranging from baroque to contemporary. Newcastle Strings is a registered charity (no. 501021), and is affiliated to Making Music, the National Federation of Music Societies. Members of the public are invited to support the orchestra by becoming Friends of Newcastle Strings. Friends pay a subscription of £20 (or more if they wish!) and in return receive two tickets for each of the two major concerts of the season. The next concert is on the 11 May 2012 at St. Luke's Church, Mow Cop.
